house update: more of the same

i’m sure you’re all dying to read this with that enticing title, but really what i mean by this is, there is more house….but it all looks the same to me…

each time we go in pauly will say “oh cool they added the support beam over there.”  or “oh yeah! that footing looks set!” ( i don’t really know here what he actually says..i tune out instantly when he starts talking and walking around the house..)   ………..because really all i notice is that all the walls look the same and my floors are still plywood….

however, pauly reassures me that there is progress being made. so….i guess i will choose to believe him…..

we have a meeting scheduled for next monday to meet with our contractor and talk over all the details before the sheetrock goes up! so i know things will really start clicking along now! PTL, people. P..T..L…\

Oh! and we have already met some of our neighbors….who are awesome!

so….three cheers for plergville! huzzah!

the entire house is wrapped with tyvek wrap…well it’s not here….but it will be…

garage….not much else to say here……

our front door! it will eventually be painted black but it was so exciting seeing it! (oy. sometimes i reread these house posts and i think…i need a life…) 🙂

we found a list of things the builders left, that still need to be done written on an old board in our (what will be) living room..i thought it was cool……again…..this house needs to be finished so i can stop finding joy in what is essentially trash….

things are really clipping along so i will try to stay on top of it and keep you all updated!

they put up the attic *what i now know are called* trusses! it’s looking more and more like a real live house!

we were told today our *estimated* close date will be november 15th….which is a little later than we were hoping….so….all in good time, i suppose that sucks… 🙂

house updates!

i am going to TRY to update this more consistently now that there is really something to show.  but here are the pictures of our house progress to date! (personally, i never look at people’s pictures unless they are of people or food…so no offense will be taken if you skip through all these..)

so…without further ado…here is plerg-ville: in progess!

here’s where we started…just a few weeks ago! our very own plop of dirt…i’m pretty sure ‘plop’ is the correct term here…

i *think* the official term for these is ‘tresses?’ i like to refer to them as chevron boards…

first time walking through our ‘front door’! and…let me just say…a picture at night, after a long day of teaching, taken from the ground, shooting up towards (what are apparently) multiple chins…i’ve never looked better.

and two stories! almost roof time! so, for perspective: left: garage, right: (obviously) house.

house HUNTED!

yes! you read that right! past tense! huntED!! THE HOUSE HUNT IS OVER!!! boom baby!

after searching tirelessly for what felt like 150 years, we have decided to build a house in inver grove heights, mn! it will be (obviously) a new construction home, out in the burbs. 🙂 ………..this was not our original intent when we set out to look for homes. we were actually really set on finding a nice home in the city and taking full advantage of all the things the city has to offer……. BUT. but…we just were not finding anything that we liked/suited our needs/wasn’t so outrageously expensive for what we would be getting. it. sucked. big time. and was very defeating. but, per usual, God is faithful. and two weeks ago we happened to stumble upon (read: continued to enter random home inquiries into google until something popped up….) this specific home building company and really liked what we saw. we went out with our realtor and my parents, to visit the neighborhood, and tour a model home. we loved it.

however, nothing in our life is that cut and dried, so of course we had to keep talking ourselves out of it….kept looking at open houses in the city…..but at the end of the day we kept finding ourselves back at the idea of building…..so finally, we just decided we needed to actually make a decision and move forward…and so we did! for better or worse we are homeowners now! (…..fingers crossed it’s for the better…) so mark your calendars people! july 16th building starts and october 24th we close!

i’ll post pictures of the lot and area as soon as we take a few….because i am sure everyone is DYING to see the pile of dirt that will one day be a our home….i know i am!! 🙂
